      The Significance of Hardings, McGavocks & Donelsons in the History of Davidson Countyby Dr. Carole BucyFor those interested in local history, this is a “must” event to put on your calendar.Dr. Bucy will present two 50 minute lectures summarizing the history of Davidson County with a focus on the significance of the people and places in the Donelson/Pennington Bend areas. Following her coverage of the early settlement to 1800 last year, she will pick up with 1800 and move forward with an emphasis on the Harding’s, McGavock’s & Donelson families. The Monday morning lectures will be repeated on Tuesday evening for those who cannot attend during the day.Monday, October 21 & Tuesday, October 22, 2019 First SeriesMonday October 2110:30 am — 12:30 pmSecond Series Tuesday, October 226 pm — 8 pm(a repeat of first series)$5 per person for either seriesMembers FreeDr. Bucy is professor of history at Volunteer State Community College and holds an appointment as the Davidson County Historian. With degrees in history from Baylor University, George Peabody College, and Vanderbilt University, she is a longtime advocate for local and state history. She regularly conducts teacher workshops on the incorporation of local history into existing U.S. history courses and speaks to school groups about Nashville history. This summer she has been working on the Votes for Women room at the downtown public library in Nashville, which will open in February 2020, as a permanent room complimenting the Civil Rights Room on the 2nd floor.
