Bass Pro Shops Santa's Wonderland and Pre-Christmas Activities

Nashville's Bass Pro Shops feels it is important for families to hold on to the tradition of Christmas - maybe even more so this year. Unlike many retailers, Christmas at Bass Pro Shops will be bigger and better than ever. The company has added approximately 30 jobs at their store in Nashville located at 323 Opry Mills Drive during the Christmas season.

"We want our customers to remember when Christmas was special and important in their lives," stated Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris. "We still believe in that special magic of Christmas and would like to invite our customers to bring the kids and grandkids and make memories that last a lifetime."

This year, Bass Pro Shops stores will feature a free "Santa's Wonderland", an over 3,500 square foot, magical village for the kids comprised of both animated and live elves, Lionel and Bachmann old-time model trains area, Fisher-Price(r) remote control cars, a Red Ryder(r) laser arcade, a Nerf(r) soft gun range and activity tables where you can write a letter to Santa, color and do fun crafts every weekend. Santa will also be in residence there throughout the season.

Customers can get a free 4x6 photo with Santa and his reindeer from 5pm to 9pm Monday through Friday, Saturday's 10am to 9pm and Sunday's noon to 5 pm with extended hours beginning November 27th. Photo and gift packages will also be available. If the line is long, they can just grab a free Bass Pass and their appointment with Santa is set.

Every weekend from 12 to 5 pm beginning November 15th through December 21st at Bass Pro Shops Santa's Wonderland, shoppers can introduce their children to time-honored traditions of making crafts and holiday ornaments like turning pine cones into ornaments, making hand-made paper chains, creating Santa's out of fishing bobbers, constructing fun reindeer hats, changing candy canes into reindeer and even decorating cookies for Santa. Again, it's all free! A complete schedule of activities is available at Santa's Wonderland.

And, since probably the most important part of Christmas is the lesson of giving Bass Pro Shops can help you there too. Beginning Sunday, November 9th and continuing until December 24th, bring a new toy to donate to the Bass Pro Shops Toys for the Kids drive. Toys will be collected in the grand entrance of the store and then distributed to the Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.

No one is giving more during this Christmas season than our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. You can show your support and appreciation to the troops by making a donation at all Bass Pro Shops store registers to the USO's Operation Care Package. You can then sign a personal greeting to be sent to the troops to show them how much you care. Monies collected are used to purchase items such as calling cards, disposable cameras, toiletries, sunscreen and more. You can also donate to AMVETS and support their efforts to make a difference in the lives of all American Veterans and their families.

Bass Pro Shops will kick off the season with a special Christmas Preview Night Sunday, November 9th from 5 pm to 8 pm. Local groups will be singing Christmas carols in front of the store and customers will be treated to hot chocolate and cookies. Santa arrives at 5:30 pm via a Tracker Nitro Z-9 boat pulled by a Toyota Tundra truck.

Kids will be invited to help Santa, through a little magic, light up the outside of the store, a big Christmas tree in the main entrance and then on into the store for the unveiling of Santa's Wonderland.

Bass Pro Shops has also got big plans for Black Friday. They will be holding their 2nd annual Great Turkey Campout Thanksgiving Day starting at 5:00 pm. Customers are invited to bring their tents and campout all night on the parking lot so they can be one of the first in line to enter the store the next morning.

From 5 pm - 8 pm they will be serving hot chocolate, coffee, and s'mores around the fire pits. Every half hour they will be drawing for gift cards and customers can also enter a drawing for a $1,000 Bass Pro Shops gift card and a $5,000 Shell gas card.
